DIVEMASTER OVERVIEW

In preparing for your leadership, the PADI Divemaster course is an extensive program that embraces many skills and knowledge areas, consisting of three modules: knowledge development, water skills & stamina and practical application as a full team member of a diving center, all necessary for your role as a Divemaster and for your next Phuket IDC in Thailand.

To enroll in this course: to be at least 18 years old and have all the following prerequisites. An Advanced Open Water Diver certificate (or equivalent), a Rescue Diver certificate (or equivalent), have completed the course Emergency First Response (or other sanctioned CPR course) within the last past two years, logged a minimum of 20 dives and a Medical approval signed by a physician (PADI medical form). You'll earn the PADI Divemaster certification after successfully completed a program of one to six weeks according to your abilities, the time that you want to invest for the development of your future career as Assistant Instructor and logged 60 dives.

Required materials to have, read and study prior starting the course:

• PADI Divemaster manual.
• Encyclopedia of recreational diving & Diving knowledge workbook.
• Recreational Dive Planners; Wheel, Table and eRDP versions.
• Divemaster Aquatic Cue Cards.
• Instructor guides for the following programs:

  • Discover Scuba Diving
  • Discover Snorkeling/Skin Diver course
  • Scuba Review/Discover Local Diving

Since this course can be done as a practical exercice and an Internship, the following schedule in Phuket may be flexible. Divemaster Schedule

PRACTICAL APPLICATION

The candidates having more than 60 dives and successfully completed this program will be able to send there Divemaster application to PADI. For those who didn’t record the 60 dives, as well for the others, I recommend you to follow some specialty dives with me as you will be assisting during courses and sometimes guiding divers, here in Thailand, in unfamiliar environments. There is enough specialties to reach the required logged dives.

DIVEMASTER INTERNSHIP

The candidates going on the internship in Phuket will have more advantages to assist and follow more PADI courses. Minimum required: 1 Open Water Diver course, 1 Continuing Education course (Advanced Open Water, Rescue or Specialty) and guide a diving group during one of our daytrips.
The number of days for the internship isn’t fixed and should be discussed together.
The internship isn’t required for certification but I strongly recommend it since most of the candidats wish to continue further to Instructor.
